About the team/role

We are seeking a Senior Tax Advisory Manager to oversee the company’s tax function for Mexico, based in our Mexico City office. This role will report to the Head of Tax of Mexico and LATAM  and will play a key role in strengthening the in-house tax capability while supporting the company’s growth in our fintech, food and mobility fronts.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure accurate and timely tax advisory adherence to Mexican tax laws and regulations, and successful execution of tax projects, while reducing reliance on external advisors by building strong internal tax ownership.

You are a curious self-starter who collaborates effectively with cross-functional partners across Finance, Legal, Product, and Operations. You bring solid experience in Mexican corporate tax matters, such as tax advisory, tax risk management., among others. 

You combine a hands-on approach with strong judgment, and are comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where new products, regulatory changes, and operational initiatives require continuous tax evaluation and support.

In this role you will be...

You will be responsible for overseeing tax matters related to the company’s Mexican operations, including advisory support for business initiatives. The role will act as a key internal tax partner to the business, ensuring that new products, operational changes, and strategic initiatives are aligned with applicable tax regulations.

You will also coordinate with external advisors when specialized expertise is required while maintaining internal ownership of tax matters.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

  • Provide tax advisory and support related to the company’s local operations, including matters related to cross-border transactions, indirect taxes, and other operational tax topics relevant to the business.

  • Support business teams during the launch of new products, initiatives, or operational changes, ensuring tax considerations are properly assessed.

  • Monitor tax law developments and regulatory changes in Mexico and assess their potential impact on the business.

  • Identify and evaluate tax risks that could affect the company’s operations and propose mitigation strategies.

  • Manage tax audits and information requests from tax authorities in coordination with external service providers when necessary.

  • Coordinate with external advisors on specialized matters such as transfer pricing documentation and other technical studies when required.

  • Lead and execute tax-related projects such as legal entity changes, process improvements, electronic invoicing updates, implementation of new tax requirements, and other operational initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve tax processes, documentation, and compliance frameworks as the business continues to scale.

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, or an equivalent field.

  • You bring significant experience in Mexican tax matters, ideally including exposure to the digital services, fintech, technology, or platform economy sectors.

  • Strong understanding of Mexican tax compliance, tax advisory, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex business situations and propose practical tax solutions.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
